I could barely contain my excitement when a friend of mine told me that Skyward, the online platform where I pay my kids’ school lunches, launched a mobile app for smart phones. Many times I’ve been caught away from my desk when I received a text from my son asking for the transfer of lunch money to his lunch account at school.
While sitting at my computer, this is an easy task that can be done in a minute, but on my iPhone, navigating the site on Safari, the phone’s browser, is very touchy. The drop-down lists don’t function right and the 3G times out. Very frustrating.
Immediately, I downloaded the new mobile app and started searching for the payment section. I combed over it a couple of times with no luck. I called the school district and spoke with the people in charge of the app. I was shocked to find out there is not payment feature on this app. What?
While the app enables me to check my kids’ grades 24/7 from my phone (think helicopter mom) I can’t make a lunch payment. I wonder if they would accept an emailed check? A mobile app with this feature will be coming soon. I will keep all the fellow helicopter parents updated when it’s launched. Imagine the possibilities. Stay tuned.
